Get Involved

They are considering the expansion of the Denver Regional Landfill near Erie. When we bought our house we were told that it would be closed by 2009, then, without a vote or requesting input form residents, they extended the close date. THe Vista Ridge Home Owner Association sent out some suggestions for getting residents involved in this discussion: 1) Contact Jeff Burrier, Waste Connections Inc. District Manger, and tell him of your disapproval of any expansion of the landfill. Email: jeffbu@wcnx.org, Phone: 303.673.9431 2) Contact the Erie Board of Trustees and tell them that you disapprove of the landfill expansion because it will lower your property value and consequentially the income to the Town of Erie. Their emails are Mayor Andrew Moore, moore@erieco.gov Glenn Massarotti, massarotti@erieco.gov Tina Harris, harris@erieco.gov Cheryl Hauger, hauger@erieco.gov Paul Ogg, ogg@erieco.gov Harry Pink, pink@erieco.gov Colin Towner, towner@erieco.gov 3) If you live along the North and Western portions of Vista Ridge and trash blows from either the Republic or the DRL in to or near your yard or on the golf course, contact Jeff Burrier to remove the trash. 4) Attend our next Board of Directors meeting on February 17, 2009 where along with regular business Mr. McConnell will provide a brief report of the meeting on January 28, 2009. Personally I strongly appose this. The trash from the land fill along hole twelve of the golf course as well as in the fields along Highway 7 is disgusting.
