Old TImes :: New Times

I was listening to some old music and came across a great line an old Mushroomhead song:

I say be happy with what you got. You be happy. Well I want whats coming to me. Well whats coming to you, Tony? The World chico, and everything in it

That’s the old times. For my new times I have been thinking about trying the upgrade to leaopard again. Here are the steps and things I need to do:

  1. Run my backup.sh (rsync / to BackupHD)
  2. Export the blogs database to backup-yyyy-mm-dd.sql
  3. Copy apache conf file over to the data folder on the webserver. note this may need to be pared down for unused modules
  4. Copy the php.ini file over to the data dir on the webserver
  5. Do a final hg status/hg commit and hg push to the repository on the server
  6. Export or copy the network configuration for home box. it needs a static ip and certain ip address in the local network
  7. Make a list of installed applications and figure out which ones to keep
  8. Upgrade 2 Leopard - do a fresh install, just wipe the old install out … important things are on BackupHD
  9. Sync .mac to get back address book, mail, calendars etc back. post upgrade maybe i can sync the dock and preferences etc.
  10. iLife 08: put iTunes back, iPhoto back, iMovies
  11. Reinstall Adobe Suite
  12. Install macports
  13. Use macports to install php+apache2+mysql
  14. Import blog db into mysql
  15. Restore apache conf file
  16. Reinstall latest versions of other apps that I am keeping from old OS.
  17. Drink a beer
