As my path diverges from VMware following the Broadcom acquisition, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey it’s been, filled with learning, growth, and invaluable connections.
As seasons shift, so does my path from VMware post-Broadcom acquisition, leading me into a reflective winter, like a full moon on the snow covered Sierra Nevada mountains. This has been an incredible journey of learning, growth, and invaluable connections, mirroring the vibrant transitions I see when seasons change in the world.
Stepping into VMware was like entering a new world of opportunities, a stark contrast to my previous experiences in startups and mid-cap non-tech businesses. It was an opportunity go deep and embraced my role as a UI engineer, working alongside a team of exceptionally talented individuals, like the original Clarity team and recently the SPEAR security team. They were not just colleagues but mentors who gave me a chance and taught me many, many things while I rekindled my passion for all things modern web, good UI,UX and DX. And, along the way, each in their own way they made me laugh, a lot 🤣. I can’t think of a better group of people to work with.
Taking a moment to pause and reflect after witnessing an exceptionally long and bizarre acquisition, I’m excited to dive into personal projects that I’ve long reserved for ‘when there’s time’ bucket and indulge in some hands-on landscaping at home. I hope this period, filled with exploring new and cutting-edge web technologies and nurturing my home and garden, is a way to symbolize the steps that embracing the inevitable change that comes when seasons shift from one to another.
For me, my tenure at VMware and especially with the Clarity team, was a period of extraordinary growth. At times it seemed like magic and too good to be true. Maybe that’s just the imposter syndrome? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. When I look back on life in general I see moments in time where, for me, I can tell that I was lucky enough to be part of something unique and special. Where magical things happened for a while and then life intervened and the world kept turning. For me, my time at VMware and especially the Clarity team was one of those times and I can’t thank the people responsible for it enough.
As this season transitions into the next, my heart is full of gratitude for the people and experiences during my time at VMware. Here is a virtual toast ( 🥃 ) to the future, with its uncharted adventures and opportunities – I look forward to seeing where this journey leads. To VMware and everyone who has been a part of this chapter, thank you. May the Force guide us all to new and exciting paths and please, take care of the 🐢‘s because if I’ve learned nothing else, it’s 🐢‘s all the way down.
