Naive because biology and life in aggregate isn't software, hardware or firmware — it's all of them and none of them at the same time while simultaneously evolving at the organism, the species and ecosystem level. It's dangerous because believing otherwise is already shaping political policy that regulates gene editing and stem cell treatments and how longevity gets funded by the lemming inspired VC crowds. There is no functional equivalent in human made technology. Not even AI. Yet. And when it does get there chances are high that even that won't emerge as we expect it to. Life has a way of filling niches we don't even notice and expanding them in unexpected ways.
