So Sarah Palin is not a ‘Washington elite’ or ‘media elite’; whatever those are. I get the impression she is generalizing about urban and city populations. Having never lived in those enviornments, what gives her the right to denigrate and look down on those who choose to live the big city or (sub)urban life? Isn’t it one of the great things about America, that we are all different from each other? Not better or more important because if where we come from or what we believe in. She is most definately a small town elite. Small town mayor. Small state governor ( in terms of population, infrastructure, budget, diversity ). Growing up in Ohio; a small, rural town of about 5000 i have learned to recognize the traits of a small town elitist because it takes one to know one. Another question comes to mind. Should you not consider yourself elite if you are one of the best in your industry or chosen profession? Do we want a president who considers themselves to be just an average citizen? Why then do we revel in the greatness of the elite athletes on our professional sports teams? I am just as guilty as she is with small town small mindedness; it’s something I try to work on overciming everyday. So far, I have seen nothing of Sarah Palin that would indicate she has either humility or compassion for the people who disagree with her point of view. As a potential representative of our country, I find that kind of behavior extremely scary and dangerous.
