Things I have observed watching Hannah’s development to date. She remembers everything. I have taken to asking her “What are you thinking, Kiddo?” The other night when I was helping her fall asleep it was warm in her room. I looked at the light fixture on the ceiling to see if there would be enough room to put in a fan above the light. When I looked back at Hannah I must have had a different look on my face because she asked, “Papa, what are you thinking?” Negotiation. She is an expert negotiator. Well, she actually doesn’t negotiate or compromise. If you offer her options that she doesn’t like, she will try to ignore you. If you press the issue she will try to choose something you didn’t have in the list of options. As a last resort she will tell you that she doesn’t want to do any of the options. When the issue is pressed she then proceeds to howl bloody murder because, obviously, her rights and liberties have been infringed upon and the world needs to know about it. It’s funny but only after the fact. She is almost three now and very strong willed. it could be a long year because she is just now learning that, “You don’t always get what you want.” In fact, when I got home from the gym the other night her and Julie were still at odds over some bedtime drama. I was informed that I had papa duty and that “You don’t always get what you want.” This included band aids and more stories. Mom and Dad were out this past weekend for Hannah’s birthday month. They got to spend a lot of time with her and I could tell that Hannah really had fun. They got to pick, clean and prepare vegetables from Miller’s Farm. Play games and color with Papa Rosa. Going to the park. Dad told me that she tried to climb the rock by herself but got a little scared when she got higher. Mom told me that she can hang from the zip line thingy all the way down the slope.
