I am making progress sort of. I can type in the code, debug it and get it running. I am finished with chapter 8 and I have my Grand Theft Wumpus running. I understand the explanation, especially with the helpful numbers to guide the flow of thought through the code. I don’t think I could write something even this simple on my own, yet. I am not sure what I even want to create. I just know that I have a strong desire to use creativity to solve interesting problems and contribute to something that makes things better. I do like the use of graphviz as the user interface in GTW. Drawing the map with the known-city and telling the user to refresh the browser is intuitive and makes the game easy to understand and play. Graphviz was always fun to use in school and going back to something familiar with Lisp is comforting because chapter 8 seemed to get alot more complicated. Here is a link to my repository so far. Tonight, my take away is: I am having fun and I get to solve interesting problems, even if they are simple for experienced programmers. I am looking forward to the chapter on web servers. Maybe I could set up some kind of toy Lisp server that mines my twitter account and does something with it using graphviz.
